The 2018 Annual Meeting was held at Hyatt Regency Waterfront in Jacksonville, Florida on March 18-21, 2018. There were 252 attendees from 17 countries around the world, representing suppliers, consultants, contractors, universities, government agencies and other researchers. Their common interest is research into materials and methods on how to build better roads.
AAPT’s technical content consists of technical session in which peer-reviewed papers are presented and three invited sessions (The Leading Edge Workshop, AAPT-ISAP International Forum and AAPT Symposium). These three sessions cover leading edge topics (Speed of Construction), international interest (Warm Mix Asphalt Technology), and practical symposium topics (Pavement Preservation).
Technical sessions this year covered a wide range of hot asphalt technology topics:
- Pavement Preservation
- Asphalt Mixture Testing
- Perpetual Pavement
These sessions presented 23 peer-reviewed papers, which will be published in the Journal of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists along with the discussions. The discussion of these papers always adds an interesting dimension which is not seen in many other conferences or peer-reviewed papers/journals.
The meeting also included several social events including a local brewery/burgers event, Ice Breaker reception and Guest tour program.
