Double-Blind Peer Review Process to be Used for 2015
AAPT Meeting

After discussion on a number of topics, one ready-to-implement practice recommended by the AAPT Publication Committee is that the peer-review process be improved by transitioning to a double-blind system for reviews.  For those not familiar with the term, the “double-blind” process hides the name of the reviewer from the author and also hides the name of the author from the reviewer.  AAPT has always kept the reviewers anonymous, but in past years the identity of the author was known to the reviewer. In theory, the double-blind review process is more fair to the author by minimizing any potential bias by the reviewer.  While this may not be necessary, it is considered as good practice by many.
Authors submitting papers this year for the 2015 AAPT Meeting should note that you will be asked to submit a version of the paper without names on the title page or header. Please don’t hesitate to contact the AAPT office with any questions.
